My Route

My route starts on the east coast in Boston, Massachusetts and finishes in San Francisco, California.

Below is the planned route in purple and my actual route in red. The blue is a train journey.

My route took me through 18 states and cities I visited are:

  • Providence, Rhode Island

  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • Washington, DC
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Chicago, Illinois
  • St. Louis, Missouri
  • Albuquerque, New Mexico
  • Flagstaff, Arizona
  • San Francisco, California

Planning the route was quite easy, The American version of Google Maps has routing options for bike. It was as simple as entering Boston to San Francisco with Washington, Chicago, Albuquerque and Las Vegas as destinations.

I had a rough plan of my route, this is a rough guide of where I wanted to be each day.

I have created an elevation graph for the trip.

I found the routes Google suggested are excellent, It makes use of a lot of bike paths and trails.
